There was a good start for the leading drivers, Connor Jupp (Energy / Vortex) led George Russell (Intrepid / Vortex), while Dorian Boccolacci (Intrepid / TM) had already moved up to third from ninth on the grid. In 4th was Simone Cunati (Top Kart / Parilla), fifth was Santino Ferrucci (Energy / TM). A collision changed the game in the middle of the pack at the notorious hairpin at Varennes. Russell took the lead on the next lap, soon followed by Boccolacci. Alex Palou (CRG / BMB) was back to sixth position, Alessio Piccini (Kosmic / Vortex) took eighth place, Paolo Besancenez (Sodi / Parilla) was 13th, but Valentin Naud (Formula K / TM) was down in 21st position.
Russell, was very fast and had almost 8 tenths ahead of sixth after 14 laps. Jupp dropped to ninth place. Lance Stroll (Zanardi / Parilla) made a good comeback, 10th in mid-race after starting from 26th position. Arthur Lehouck (Sodi / Parilla) was able to climb from 32nd to 20th place. Palou attacked Cunati for fourth place, Martin Kodric (FA Kart / Vortex) moved up to third. Marijn Kremers (PCR / Parilla) from 10th on the grid, had a problem on the formation lap which forced him to start last. He recovered to 17th. Besancenez also made a good recovery.
It was a clear victory for Britain’s George Russell ahead of the French driver Boccolacci and the Croatian Martin Kodric. 4th was Palou with Cunati fifth, sixth was Besancenez, Piccini 7th, Bonduel 8th (33rd starter!), 9th was Ticktum and 10th Ferrucci.
